TVERBERG NAMED TO HOCKEY EAST 2ND ALL-STAR TEAM
AMESBURY, Mass. - The Hockey East Association today announced its 2022-23 Men’s All-Star Teams as voted by the league’s 11 head coaches as part of the celebration of the 38th Hockey East Men’s Tournament presented my Movement Mortgage.
Former Ontario Junior Hockey League star Ryan Tverberg (Richmond Hill, Ont./UConn) is on the second team.
The junior scored 16 goals and had 15 assists in 35 games this season. Three of his goals were game winners.
Tverberg was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs from the OJHL’s Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft
The 2019-20 OJHL standout attended Team Canada’s 2022 World Juniors selection camp in Calgary from Dec. 9 to 13, 2021.
His OJHL resume is impressive:
• In his only full season with the Canadiens, Tverberg had 51 points (26G/25A) in 47 games. (He played nine games with the OJHL team as an affiliate from the Canadiens AAA U18’s in 2018-19)
• Tverberg scored a goal to help Team Devin Shore win the Prospects Game during the OJHL All-Star Celebration in Oakville Nov. 30, 2019.
• He was on NHL Central Scouting’s Watch List throughout the entire season.
• Tverberg was a member of Team Canada East, which won silver medals at the World Jr. A Challenge in British Columbia Dec. 15.
• He played in the CJHL Prospects Game in Hamilton Jan. 14, 2020.
• He was named to the OJHL and Ontario Hockey Association postseason All-Prospects teams.
Hockey East will announce finalists for the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards on Monday, March 13.
The 2023 Hockey East Men’s Tournament presented by Movement Mortgage continues with the quarterfinals on March 11 to take on Boston University, Merrimack, and Northeastern, while UMass Lowell at UConn is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
The Hockey East semifinals are tentatively set for 4 pm and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 17 at TD Garden in Boston, while the 38th championship game will be played Saturday, March 18 at 7 p.m.
