GOLDEN HAWKS EXTEND STREAK TO 13, DEFEATING FURRY
The Trenton Golden Hawks returned to home ice on Friday night, not having played in The Hangar since November 15th, to take on the Whitby Fury. The Golden Hawks had defeated the Fury in all three of the teams' previous games this season, all of which took place in Whitby.
The first period was packed with back-and-forth action. Anand Oberoi (Kanata, ON) stood on his head to keep the game scoreless going into the last minute of the period when Marcus Regina opened the scoring for the Fury, who took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
The Fury would hold the lead until halfway through the 2nd period when Samuel Duchesne (Brampton, ON) fired a point shot through traffic which beat Will Craig clean to tie things up at 1. Adam Kim (Kingston, ON) and Josh Wright (Woodstock, ON) picked up the assists on the tieing goal.
The stalemate would only last a minute and thirty-nine seconds, as Matt Nastasiuk (Barrie, ON) would get his 8th of the season putting the Golden Hawks up 2-1 early in the third. Griffen Fox (Brantford, ON) and Kyle Robinson (Rocky Harbour, NL) picked up the assists on the go-ahead goal. Nastasiuk's goal would hold up as the winner, with Wyatt George (Pittsburgh, PA) adding an empty netter in the last minute, assisted by Andrew Suriyuth (Kingston, ON) and Robinson. The assist was Robinson's 2nd of the game and 7th (2G, 5A) in 7 games since being acquired by the Golden Hawks.
Anand Oberoi was terrific in goal for the Golden Hawks, stopping 24 of 25 shots (0.960 Save%) and improving his record on the season to 13-5-0-1 on the season.
