HAWKS DEFEAT MUSKIES IN 2OT
The Golden Hawks entered into action vs the Lindsay Muskies on Sunday night, having defeated the Fury on Friday and looking for the club's second win of the weekend.
The Muskies had given the Golden Hawks trouble throughout the season and would be no pushover for the Hawks. Andrew Suriyuth (Kingston, ON) would open the scoring short-handed just a few minutes into the contest to provide the Hawks with an early lead. Julien Jacob (Courtice, ON) would pick up the lone assist on the opening marker. The lead would be shortlived as the Muskies would tie things up at 1 just 21-seconds later. The tie would hold until midway through the period when Wyatt George (Pittsburgh, PA) would put the Golden Hawks ahead with assists to the rest of the ''Pittsburgh Connection', Ryan Brown (Connelsville, PA) and Jared Gerger (Greensburg, PA).
The G-Hawks would hold the lead through the scoreless second period, but 5-minutes into the third period would score a pair of goals in under 20-seconds to take a 3-2 lead. The Golden Hawks would press to no avail until with just under 5-minutes left to play Kyle Robinson (rocky Harbour, NL) would tie things up, beating the Muskies goaltender. Cameron Gaylor (Toronto, ON) and Sullivan Sparkes (Waterloo, ON) picked up assists on the game tieing goal.
The 4-on-4 overtime would solve nothing; however, just 14 seconds into the 3-on-3 period Adam Kim would get his second goal of the game to put the Golden Hawks past the Muskies, by a final score of 4-3. Sam Duchesne (Brampton, ON) would pick up an assist on the game-winning goal.
Anand Oberoi (Kanata, ON) would pick up his second win of the weekend, stopping 26 of 29 on the night.
The Golden Hawks are back in action this Friday as the Hawks host the Dukes in our last game of the regular season. Friday's showdown will also be the Golden Hawks' Pink in the Rink game, benefitting the Canadian Cancer Society. The Golden Hawks will wear commemorative pink jerseys that will be available via silent auction, along with a number of other prizes including; a $500 VIA Rail Voucher.
