Five Moves By The Trenton Golden Hawks

QUINTE WEST, ON – Monday July 11, 2022: The moves continue for the Trenton Golden Hawks and Head Coach/General Manager Jerome Dupont. Several acquisitions and trades have already taken place over the last several weeks, including moving Daniel Beaupre to Timmins (NOJHL) and Jackson Barnes to Nepean (CCHL).

We wish to thank Barnes and Beaupre for their hard work last season. We wish them nothing but the best in their continuation of hockey and education. We are working hard in the background,” says Dupont. “Our focus is winning a national championship. With that in mind, we are thrilled about our latest acquisitions.

Returning to the Golden Hawks is Forward Jake Laville. The Brampton native went from the GHawks to the Collingwood Blues last season. In the 2021-22 campaign Laville notched 26 points between the Blue and Golden Hawks.

Jake is gritty,” explained Dupont. “He is a big body presence, goes hard to the front of the net, and ensures he is the first player to the puck. It is great to have him back.”

The Golden Hawks have made another trade with the Lindsay Muskies. This spring it was announced that Trenton acquired Belleville’s Ethan Fraser from the Muskies. This time it is Nate Burelle, a Quinte Red Devil grad and a Belleville native coming back to the region to continue his Junior A career.

Dupont says, “Burelle is a left shot forward that had point production last season. He is a responsible player, he is gritty, and someone we will put in most situations. Great to have another local product in the fold.”

Finally, the Golden Hawks saw something they liked in the Centennial Cup. Jeriah Shantz is coming from the Dauphin Kings (Manitoba Junior Hockey League). The Fergus, Ontario native won the MJHL title in the 2021-22 season, moving onto the recent national championship.

Getting an opportunity to be in a league final and playing in a national tournament, you are going to bring great leadership qualities. Shantz is a heady player that will be able to play a 200 foot game for sure. He will be a solid addition to our forward unit.”
