OJS RESTRUCTURE HOCKEY OPERATIONS
OTTAWA, ON - MAY 31, 2016
The Ottawa Jr. Senators announced today minor changes to their hockey operations department. Head Coach and General Manager Martin Dagenais is extremely happy to promote five year Assistant Coach Dan Sauvé to an Associate Coach position with the hockey club. Known as the team's defensive guru, Sauvé will have to work with a younger defensive core this season, but Dagenais is not concern.
«Dan Sauvé has been an integral part of our organization for the past five years, and we are happy that he will be back for a sixth season. Although we only have three defensemen coming back next season, we know that they will be in good hands with the structure that Dan will bring them.»
The team also announced that Assistant Coach Jamie Mayo has been promoted to an Assistant General Manager role. Mayo, the most experience member of the staff, is known as the calm presence behind Ottawa's bench.
«Jamie Mayo has done a fantastic job for us as an Assistant Coach, said Dagenais. He has a strong eye for talent, a tireless work ethic, and understands what it takes to run a successful organization at this level. We are very happy that he has accepted to help out on the hockey operations side of things.»
Dagenais is also happy to announced that Assistant Coach Chris Kushneriuk will be back with the team for a second season, as well as Ottawa area scouts, Alexander Barr, and Luc Ouellette. Alan Levere will serve as the Montreal/Toronto area scout, while Rob Broderick, and Eric Lindquist will work primarily in the US. Finally, Director of Hockey Operations René Sénécal, Goaltending Coach Stéphane Levere, and Athletic Therapist Gerry Savage, three key members of the organization, will all be back for a third season.
