The Walla Walla escape the Shoreline behind Ayres' 4 strikeouts, 4-1
An awesome effort by Clayten Ayres lifted the Walla Walla (31-15) to a 4-1 win over the Shoreline (22-22) on Sunday at Warrior Field .
The Walla Walla relied on Ayres to eat up innings en route to the win. Ayres pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks while striking out four.
Steven Sordahl had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the third and fourth innings and singled in the sixth inning.
Mitch Mondor was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
