Franklin Regional boosted by Paone's play in net, beats Wheeling Catholic 6-1

Nicholas Paone had a standout game with 27 saves, and Franklin Regional beat Wheeling Catholic 6-1.

Franklin Regional was sparked by Drake Brown, who tallied one goal and one assist. Brown scored 2:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Franklin Regional. Aaron Bartifay picked up the assist.

Franklin Regional's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wheeling Catholic power plays. Franklin Regional forced Wheeling Catholic goalie Gus Heath to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Franklin Regional additionally got points from James Mauro, who also registered one goal and one assist, Bartifay, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Tyler Newell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Oldrich Virag also scored for Franklin Regional. More assists for Franklin Regional came via Gavin Fusting and Thomas Rafferty, who contributed one each.

Wheeling Catholic put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Franklin Regional to score on any of its three power plays. Wheeling Catholic did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Wheeling Catholic averages 6.1 goals per game.

Wheeling Catholic was led by Chase Edgerton, who scored the team's only goal. Edgerton scored 4:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Franklin Regional.

Franklin Regional incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Heath rejected 34 shots on goal for Wheeling Catholic. Wheeling Catholic incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
