Smith lifts Montour over Gateway, 7-1

Montour relied on the scoring touch of Camron Smith, who netted four goals, to beat Gateway, 7-1.

Smith got on the scoresheet 8:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:22 into the first, at 10:54 into the second, and at 16:39 into the third.

Montour stifled Gateway's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gateway was unable to stop Montour from sending pucks towards the net, and Montour eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Montour outdid its season average for goals scored. Montour has scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Montour found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Others who scored for Montour included Michael Skoff, Anthony Isenberg, and Anthony Hartwick, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Montour were Brandon Eisel, who had two and Michael Tracy, Austin Szurlej, Anthony Szurlej, Max Rose, and Mason Skoff, who contributed one each.

Gateway was led by Ryan Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 13:11 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Montour. Alexander Brown provided the assist.

Jake Muzik recorded 14 saves for Montour. Montour registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Gateway's Wyatt Jagger stopped 40 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Gateway incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
