Huge game by Rapone boosts Greensburg Salem over Gateway, 9-4

Greensburg Salem's William Rapone had a big offensive game, scoring six goals and contributing one assist in his team's 9-4 win over Gateway.

Rapone got on the scoresheet 2:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:38 into the first, at 3:53 into the second, at 8:12 into the second, at 11:51 into the second, and at 7:11 into the third.

Greensburg Salem pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 52 penalty minutes.

Greensburg Salem stifled Gateway's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Greensburg Salem surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Greensburg Salem averages 3.0 goals per contest. Greensburg Salem's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in six goals.

Greensburg Salem additionally got points from Ryan Collette, who also registered one goal and three assists. Greensburg Salem also had goals scored by Garison Andolina and Richard Detesta, who each put in one. In addition, Greensburg Salem received assists from Logan Miller, who had one and Donavin Smith and Christian Murtland, who contributed two each.

Gateway's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 11 chances.

Gateway was helped by Anthony Palmieri, who tallied one goal. Palmieri scored 1:51 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Greensburg Salem. William McAllister assisted on the tally. Gateway also got points from Nolan Baker, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Gateway included Jordan Robbins and Ryan Taylor, who scored one goal each. More assists for Gateway came via Tanner Davis and Nicholas Falvo, who each chipped in one.

Hayley Zimmerman made 22 saves for Greensburg Salem on 26 shots. Greensburg Salem registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Wyatt Jagger took the loss and made four saves before being replaced by Cameron Balistrieri who made nine saves. Gateway incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
