Joyce nets hat trick, leads Plum to 7-4 win over Hempfield

Hempfield could not stop Plum's Dillon Joyce, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-4 win.

Joyce got on the scoresheet 15:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:09 into the second and at 11:59 into the third.

Plum forced Hempfield goalie Sean Lanager to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Plum bested its season scoring average. This season, Plum averages 3.9 goals per contest. Plum capitalized on Hempfield's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Plum additionally got points from Zachary Nolan, who also had one goal and one assist and Nolan Puhala, who also registered one goal and one assist. Plum also had goals scored by Domenic Borriello and Stephen Shields, who each put in one. More assists for Plum came via Anthony Borriello, who had four and Ryan Mascaro, Zach Keller, and Ryan Loebig, who contributed one each.

Hempfield was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Hempfield found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Hempfield was helped by Christian Gorscak, who tallied two goals and one assist. Gorscak scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:28 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Plum. A tripping penalty on Connor Cenci had put Hempfield on the power play. Andrew Koziara provided the assist. Gorscak's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 12:34 left in the third period. Hempfield earned a power play opportunity when Alexi Mance was put in the box for hooking. Hempfield also got points from Mario Colosi, who also had one goal and one assist. Jared Gerger also scored for Hempfield. Other players who recorded assists for Hempfield were Jacob Anderson, who had one.

Nathan Puhala made 20 saves for Plum on 24 shots. Plum incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hempfield's Lanager stopped 27 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
