Keller nets hat trick, leads Plum to 12-0 win over Norwin

Zach Keller netted a hat trick to lead Plum over Norwin, 12-0.

Keller got on the scoresheet 8:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:27 into the second and at 8:51 into the third.

Plum led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring eight goals in the second.

Norwin's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as Norwin let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Plum forced Norwin's goalies to work in net, totaling 42 shots and forcing 30 saves. Anthony Barca made 30 stops and Austin Imro made zero. Plum excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Plum's defensive play was more effective than usual against Norwin. Plum gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. Plum surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Plum averages 4.2 goals per game.

Plum also got points from Anthony Borriello, who also finished with two goals and five assists and Nolan Puhala, who also registered three goals and four assists to lead the team in points. Alexi Mance also scored for Plum. In addition, Plum received assists from Connor Cenci, who had two and Zachary Nolan, Louis Poprocky, Ryan Mascaro, and Elliot Peterman, who contributed one each.

Norwin did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting eight shots on net to force eight saves. Norwin struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 46 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Sergio Benitez recorded eight saves for Plum. Plum incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Norwin ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Butler was ejected from the game.
