Serra Catholic pulls away in second, rolls over Wheeling Park, 9-0

Wheeling Park was within striking distance after one period, but Serra Catholic put the pedal down in the second en route to a 9-0 victory.

Serra Catholic got the win thanks to a great game by Roman Kraemer, who had five goals and three assists. Kraemer got on the scoresheet 10:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:16 into the second, at 11:18 into the second, at 3:01 into the third, and at 16:44 into the third.

Tyrik Barkley frustrated Wheeling Park's offense all game, and stopped 41 shots en route to a shutout. Barkley certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 5.43 entering the contest.

Serra Catholic put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wheeling Park to score on any of its three power plays. Serra Catholic forced Wheeling Park goalie Dorothy Romanek to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Serra Catholic found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Serra Catholic averages 6.6 goals per game.

Serra Catholic also got points from Justin Hummert, who also tallied one goal and four assists. Others who scored for Serra Catholic included Joseph Goldstein, Matthew Ulishney, and Dylan Wilding, who scored one goal each. More assists for Serra Catholic came via Trevor Ulichnie, who had one and Michael Ulishney, who had two.

Wheeling Park could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Wheeling Park averages 3.2 goals per game. Wheeling Park's offense rang up 41 shots on Serra Catholic's net.

Serra Catholic incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Romanek rejected 29 shots on goal for Wheeling Park. Wheeling Park incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
