Montour blows out Serra Catholic, 6-2

Montour had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Serra Catholic.

Montour got the win with help from a great game by Anthony Hartwick, who had two goals and one assist. Hartwick scored the first of his two goals at 5:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Montour. Camron Smith provided the assist. Hartwick's next tally made the score 6-2 Montour with 7:11 left in the third period. A unsportsmanlike conduct call on Anthony Szurlej put Montour on the penalty kill. Smith picked up the assist.

Montour's penalty kill excelled, as Montour gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Montour's offense rang up 36 shots on Serra Catholic's net. Montour could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Montour also got points from Smith, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Brandon Eisel, who also registered one goal and one assist. Montour also got a goal from Ian McLean as well. In addition, Montour received assists from Ethan Diffendal, who had two and Matthew Tracy, Anthony Isenberg, and Jason Casperson, who each chipped in one.

Serra Catholic stifled Montour's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Serra Catholic's offense operated below its season average. Serra Catholic averages 6.3 goals per game. Montour was unable to stop Serra Catholic from sending pucks towards the net, and Serra Catholic eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Serra Catholic was helped by Zachary Zapata, who had one goal and one assist. Zapata scored on the power play 11:39 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Montour. Serra Catholic had taken the advantage when Montour's Hartwick got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Roman Kraemer provided the assist. Serra Catholic additionally got points from Kraemer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist.

Hayden Chieffo made 32 saves for Montour on 34 shots. Montour registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Tyrik Barkley recorded 30 saves for Serra Catholic. Serra Catholic incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
