South Fayette wins tough contest against Bishop McCort, 3-2
South Fayette gutted out a close 3-2 win against Bishop McCort.
Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and John Lipovich's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.
South Fayette was led by Lipovich, who had one goal and one assist. Lipovich scored 13:54 into the third period to make the score 3-2 South Fayette. Ian Kumar assisted on the tally.
In a losing effort, Bishop McCort was sparked by Christopher Miller, who racked up two goals. Miller scored the first of his two goals at 8:42 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Anthony Formica provided the assist. Miller's next tally made the score 2-1 Bishop McCort with 6:19 left in the second period. Formica picked up the assist.
South Fayette was held below its usual level of production. South Fayette averages 5.7 goals per game. South Fayette forced Bishop McCort goalie John Bradley to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.
