Montour rolls over Wheeling Catholic, 6-2

Montour had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Wheeling Catholic.

Matthew Tracy was all over the ice for Montour, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Tracy scored the first of his two goals at 1:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Montour. Camron Smith picked up the assist. Tracy's next tally made the score 5-2 Montour with 7:39 left in the second period. Michael Tracy provided the assist.

Montour's penalty kill excelled, as Montour gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Montour forced Wheeling Catholic goalie Jacob Laurine to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Montour could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Montour also got points from Ian McLean, who also had one goal and one assist. Montour also got a goal from Anthony Hartwick as well. Other players who recorded assists for Montour were Brandon Eisel, who had two and Philip Santucci, Anthony Catanzarite, Max Rose, and Jason Casperson, who each chipped in one.

Wheeling Catholic stifled Montour's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wheeling Catholic could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Wheeling Catholic averages 5.7 goals per game. Montour's defense shut down Wheeling Catholic's forwards for much of the game, and Wheeling Catholic got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Wheeling Catholic was helped by Chase Edgerton, who finished with one goal. Edgerton scored on the power play 3:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Montour. Wheeling Catholic had taken the advantage when Montour's Smith got sent off for roughing. Derek Dearth picked up the assist. Kyle Newmeyer also scored for Wheeling Catholic. In addition, Wheeling Catholic received assists from Clay Slyder and Kyle Wensel, who contributed one each.

Arn Criswell rejected 11 shots on goal for Montour. Montour registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. Laurine recorded 40 saves for Wheeling Catholic. Wheeling Catholic incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
