Hunter leads the Mt. Hood to 9-2 victory thanks to 4 strikeouts
An excellent effort by Nathan Hunter carried the Mt. Hood (33-13) to a 9-2 win over the Douglas on Saturday at David Story Field.
Hunter picked up the win for the Mt. Hood. Hunter allowed no earned runs, three hits and four walks while striking out four over nine innings of work.
The offense exploded for the the Mt. Hood in the eighth. The Douglas (19-21) had no answer as the Mt. Hood scored six runs. The Mt. Hood scored in the eighth on a groundout by Nick Gawley, a groundout by Gawley, a single by Louis Wolf, , a double by Nolan McCall, a single by Thomas Lane, and a double by Jay Rogers.
Wolf was hot from the plate for the Mt. Hood. Wolf went 3-5, drove in one and scored three runs.
A bright spot for the Douglas in the defeat was Jamie Whitehead, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.
Whitehead couldn't get it done on the mound for the Douglas, taking a loss.
