Patriots Elite Mid-Season Review
The Potomac Patriots Elite squad is exactly half way through their season at the Thanksgiving break. With a record of 8-8-0-4, the team would undoubtedly like a few games back. Five of the teams eight losses have come by two goals or less. Captain Nick Gray is leading the offense with thirteen goals and seven assists for twenty points. Mikey Carr has come alive this season with three goals and sixteen assists. The speedy winger has almost twice as many assists the team's next highest tally thus far this year. "I'm excited to see Mikey [Carr] doing this well," remarked GM RJ Zeigler. "He along with Nick Gray have really stepped up and provided some much need offense." Newcomers Devin Melice and Sviataslov Turchenik have both made their marks in the first have of the season as well. On defense newcomer Drew Crilly and returner Kevin McDonald have anchored a defensive core that has been plagued with injuries and set backs. McDonald leads all defensemen with ten points while Crilly has contributed offensively and provided some much needed physical play. In net returner Dustyn Moyer leads in wins with five and save percentage with a .920. Newcomer Brian Parsons holds the top GAA with a 2.64 mark.
The key to the Patriots success in the second half of the season will be offense. The eventual returns of Liam Walsh and Connor Ackerman from injury will help that tremendously, but the recent signing of Logan Hulse from Helena in the NA3HL will give a more immediate boost up front. The Patriots will return to the ice December 6th at home agianst the East Coast Eagles. P-Pats!
