"Back in the Ack"-erman
RG-who? No tacky twiiter promises. No fancy endorsements to push. The Potomac Patriots have a young athlete that simply wants to play the game he loves - and has now worked his way back from not one, but two injuries that would have ended many player's seasons.
In the summer of 2013 Pittsburgh native Connor Ackerman made the decison to move to the Washington, DC area to pursue his Junior hockey dreams. However only a couple of weeks into his first season Ackerman sustained a freak injury, severing his achiles tendon. At first glance many would have not even considered him being able to make it back to see any more time that season. Ackerman, however, had other plans. Through rigorous physical therapy and training on the ice, the young Patriot regained his strength and re-joined his teammates for the last week of the season and the playoffs.
A great story itself, Connor Ackerman's does not end there. Ackerman returned to Patriots training camp this season excited and energetic; prepared for a full season of hockey. Fate however, would deal another blow. Once agian in September Ackerman sustained a serious, potentially season-ending injury by breaking his fibia in a team practice.
Connor was familiar with the road ahead, and the work that would come with that journey. Amazingly, Ackerman rejoined his teammates this weekend, his goal now set on his team's success in the playoffs.
Welcome back Connor, from your entire P-Pats family.
