KINGSTON uses early goal to top BRAMPTON, 2-1
Hannah Scaletta gave KINGSTON the lead in the first period, and BRAMPTON was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1.
KINGSTON took over the lead for good with a goal by Scaletta at 1:30 in the first period. Brianna Gaffney (C) picked up the assist.KINGSTON was led by goalie Kathryn Jalink, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Jalink will actually see her goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.6 entering the contest.
KINGSTON was sparked by Hayley Williams, who had one goal. Williams scored 4:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 KINGSTON. Sidonie Chard (A) provided the assist.
KINGSTON put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BRAMPTON to score on any of its four power plays. KINGSTON could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.
In addition, KINGSTON received assists from Marissa Murphy, who had one.
BRAMPTON excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. BRAMPTON forced KINGSTON goalie Jalink to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.
BRAMPTON was led by Emily Wood, who scored the team's only goal. Wood scored 10:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 KINGSTON. Samantha Spagnol (PU) picked up the assist.
Allison Small made 22 saves for BRAMPTON on 24 shots. BRAMPTON incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
