Warriors Earn Team Honors
Rochester Hills, MI – The Rochester College hockey program wrapped up the 2015-2016 with the annual RC Hockey Banquet on Thursday, March 31st. The 2015-2016 Warriors met for the last time, surrounded by family and friends for the event.
The event was highlighted by an inspiring presentation from RC Hockey Chaplain, Adam Hill, and the presentation of the team awards. The evening ended with a celebration of Brock Malatches’ time with the Warriors as he was presented with his senior award.
The team awards were handed out based on the votes of teammates. The Most Improved Player award is given to the player that has shown the most improvement from one season to the next and the Rookie of the Year award is given to the first year player who has had the most positive impact on the team. The Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards are given to players that have been judged to be the best at playing that specific side of the puck. The Two Mile Award is given to the player that is deemed the best teammate and the Warrior Award is presented to the player that best represents the identity of Rochester College on and off the ice. The recipients of each award were:
Most Improved Player– Griffin Holt
Rookie of the Year – Ryan Jaros
Best Defensive Player – Dakota Olvin
Best Offensive Player – Matt Kadolph
Two Mile Award (for best teammate) – Sam Berry
Warrior Award – Sam Berry
Dakota Olvin was awarded the Best Defensive Player for the third year in a row and Sam Berry took home the Two Mile award for the second consecutive season. Griffin Holt, Matt Kadolph and Ryan Jaros received awards for the first time in their RC Hockey careers.
The RC Hockey program appreciates the hard work and accomplishments of it’s players and the support of all of our families, friends and fans over the course of the 2015-2016.
