2016-2017 Schedule Release
Rochester Hills, MI – The Rochester College Hockey program is excited to release the schedule and updated admission information for the 2016-2017 season. The 2016-2017 season will start with RC Hockey’s annual Fan Appreciation night on Friday, September 16. The evening will start with an opportunity to skate with the team at 7:30pm. After the skate, the 16-17 Warriors will be introduced and they will participate in the Red-White scrimmage. This event is free (skate rental fee applies for those renting skates) to the public. The very next day, Saturday, September 17, the RC Hockey program will host the first annual Fall Golf Classic at The Myth Golf and Banquets. Registration for this event will be open at https://www.rc.edu/hockeygolf2016/ until Wednesday, August 31.
The regular season begins with a weekend series against the Eagles of Eastern Michigan University (EMU) on September 23-24. The Warriors will host the Eagles for our opening night on Friday September 23 and will travel to play Eastern on Saturday, September 24. The Warriors will follow the EMU series with two weekends against very competitive ACHA Division 2 programs, the University of Michigan and Grand Valley State University (GVSU), with an ACAH Division 1 game against Mercyhurst University sandwiched in the middle.
After the weekend series against the GVSU, the Warriors move toward playing conference opponents, starting with Western Michigan University. Rochester College faces-off in a minimum of two games against each Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) opponent, including: Indiana Tech, Davenport, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Kent State, Oakland, Adrian, and the University of Michigan Dearborn. RC will play an additional two games against the 2015-2016 GLCHL Champion, Adrian College Bulldogs, Western Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University.
RC will also continue the series against cross-town rival Oakland University, as the Warriors will look to win back The Jug this season. The Grizzlies of Oakland have won two of the three series in this rivalry.
The Warriors will also be facing some non-conference competition, as they will welcome John Carroll, Oswego State University and Syracuse University to Suburban Ice Macomb to start the second semester. Rochester will travel to Freemont, Nebraska to face the Warriors of Midland University in a two-game series in October. Historically, the Warriors are a combined 30-40 against teams on their 2016-2017 schedule.
Rochester College Hockey will also participate in the GLCHL Conference Tournament in Kent, OH from February 23-25. The Warriors will also be competing to earn the first National Championship Tournament birth in the history of the program. The National Tournament will be held in Columbus, OH starting the first week of March 2017. We appreciate our great fans and supporters and hope that we can continue to earn your support this season! We are pleased to announce, in addition to our schedule, that anyone with a Rochester College ID will be able to get into all home games for free. General admission for anyone without a Rochester College ID will remain $5. We will not be selling season passes this year and we will not be selling t-shirts that act as your student pass into games. We will; however, be offering t-shirts for purchase to support the team throughout the year and welcome you to purchase one of those shirts should you choose to support the team in that way. Thanks for making our games such an exciting experience and for representing the best of Rochester College!
