Playoff Picture Emerges as Teams Head into Break
Heading into the semester break, RPI still holds the top spot in the standings as they closed out their Fall Semester with 14 consecutive wins. With 13 games played, the Engineers can clinch the overall top spot with a win over Marist on February 7th or anything less than 4 regulation wins for the University of New Hampshire in the second half. The Wildcats have four total games remaining, two against Army, one against Montclair State, and one against CCSU. If RPI should stumble in their finale and UNH wins out it will come down to a tiebreak situation for the first overall spot.
Sacred Heart and Marist still hold potential for a lot of movement in the standings as they both have multiple games yet to play. The Red Foxes will travel to Sacred Heart in early February which could determine their final playoff standing. One of Marist's remaining opponents is Siena College in a one of the few remaining rivalry games left on the schedule. Siena currently sits in 5th place with one their game against Marist their only league game remaining,Army, CCSU, and Montclair State all have multiple games in hand and can potentially elevate themselves into as high as third place depending the outcomes of both their remaining games, as well as, the outcomes of each contest. along the way. The second half of the season will once again prove to be exciting as all of the teams have playoff potential down the stretch.
