The game lived up to the pregame hype but in the end the Jr. Sens prevailed with a 3-2 win. The game kicked off a home & home series between the 2nd & 3rd place teams in the CCHL. The rematch is set for Saturdau night at the Jim Durrell Arena.

The Bears opened the scoring when recently acquired Joey Rutkowski scored his 1st goal in his 1st game at the 14:54 mark to complete a nice passing play with Matt Kenney & Broydon Stufko. The Bears outshot the Jr. Sens 10-9 in what was felt by many to the fastest paced period this season at the Bears Den.

Brett Garvey increased the Bears advantage to 2-0 when he rushed down the right side & roofed the puck short side on Jr. Sens goalie Marcus Paulino. Cole Busschaert was given the only assist on Garvey's 3rd goal of the season at 9:24. Ottawa responded when  Jaren Burke scoring at 12:52 & Jared Leslie tieing the game at 18:46. Ottawa outshot the Bears 10-7 for the middle stanza.

Smiths Falls controlled the shot clock by a 10-5 margin for the final 20 minutes but it was Ottawa who scored the lone goal as Daniel Sarracco scored the winner on a shift controlled by the Ottawa forechecking which hemmed the Bears in their own zone..

The win improved Ottawa's record to 16-3-1-1 while the Bears dropped to 15-6.
