Every team will hit a rough patch in their 62 game regular season schedule, and that time is right now for the Smiths Falls Bears. Facing a tough schedule and being hit by the injury bug (Jared Henry & Tre Folkes are out of the line up) has resulted in the Bears dropping their last 2 games at home and 5 of their last 6 games including Friday night to the Carleton Place Canadians.

The Bears opponent on Friday night at the Bears Den, the Canadians proved too much for the Bears as they handed them a 6-0 loss.

Carleton Place struck quickly as Antoine Desmeules scored just 38 seconds into the game. The visitors jumped into a 2-0 advantage at 1:52 as Brent Jones beat Brad Dobson. The Bears made a goalie change at this point in an effort to stop the Canadians momentum. Justin Cmunt beat Bo Taylor at 6:49 to increase the lead to 3-0 for the Canadians. Smiths Falls took a timeout to regain their composure. Carleton Place outshot the Bears 15-5 and took 2 of the 3 penalties called.

The Bears played a much better 2nd period but were unable to beat Connor Hughes in the Canadians net. Connor Hill scored at 15:02 to make the score 4-0 in favour of Carleton Place. The shots were 13-12 in favour of Carleton Place and each team took three minor penalties.

The depleted Bears line up competed hard but were unable to solve Hughes who made 15 saves in the 3rd period to preserve his shutout. Taylor & Dobson combined for 16 saves in the 3rd period. Carleton Place tallied twice more as Andrew Dodson & Geoff Kit scored 16 seconds apart to make the final score 6-0.
