OTTAWA beats SOUTHWEST 4-1 as Hoppner gets hat trick

Anonda Hoppner netted a hat trick to lead OTTAWA over SOUTHWEST, 4-1.

Hoppner's first goal came 5:11 into the second period. He then added goals at 8:35 into the second and at 16:18 into the third.

OTTAWA managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. OTTAWA ended up below its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. OTTAWA bested its season scoring average. This season, OTTAWA averages 1.4 goal per contest.

Sydney Lyndon also scored for OTTAWA. Other players who recorded assists for OTTAWA were Sophie Veronneau, Melanie Sweet, and Tasza Tarnowski, who contributed one each and Kassidy Ford and Shana Alexander, who each chipped in two.

SOUTHWEST stifled OTTAWA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

SOUTHWEST was led by Angeline Taiariol (A), who scored the team's only goal. Taiariol (A) scored 17:15 into the third period to make the score 3-1 OTTAWA. Savannah Bouzide (A) picked up the assist.

Jennifer Walker made 17 saves for OTTAWA on 18 shots. OTTAWA registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Vanessa Despenic rejected 22 shots on goal for SOUTHWEST. SOUTHWEST incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
