St. Marys rides Masters to victory over Sarnia, 5-1

The St. Marys Lincolns relied on the sparkling performance of Andrew Masters in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Sarnia Legionnaires.

 

St. Marys was led by Mitch Read, who racked up one goal. Read scored 16:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Marys. Ben Kirwin assisted on the tally.

The Lincolns' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Sarnia power plays. St. Marys outdid its season average for goals scored. The Lincolns have scored at the pace of 2.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

St. Marys additionally got points from Kirwin, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Max Naus, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for St. Marys included Mike Siddall and Colin Nancekinell, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Nico Giannantonio, who had two and Cody Hern, Braydon Blight, and Ocean Check, who contributed one a piece.

Sarnia did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Legionnaires put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. St. Marys was unable to stop Sarnia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Legionnaires eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Sarnia was led by Cody Trowell, who scored the team's only goal. Trowell scored 36 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Sarnia. Ryan Vendramin picked up the assist.

Masters recorded 35 saves for the Lincolns. St. Marys incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Legionnaires' Braden Palocz stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Sarnia incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
