Trenton leads Spirit 2-0 in OJHL North-East semifinal

The Trenton Golden Hawks have opened up a 2-0 lead on the the Stouffville Spirit in their best-of-seven, second-round Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series.
Trenton defeated the Spirit 5-1 in front of a season-high 546 fans at the Stouffville Arena Sunday afternoon.
The North-East Conference semifinal series resumes Tuesday night at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens in Trenton.
Game 4 goes Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Stouffville.
Trenton, the 10th ranked team in Canada, got two-goal games from a pair of players from nearby Vaughan, Jeremy Pullara, 20, and affiliate Anthony Sorrentino, 21, who started the season in the Quebec Major league.
Rookie Thomas Tinmouth, a 16-year-old from Richmond Hill, had the Spirit goal.
The Spirit had its chances but went 0-for-5 on the power play during the first two periods. They were outshot 28-21.
The Cobourg Cougars lead the Wellington Dukes 1-0 in the other North-East semifinal.
The South-West Conference series have the Georgetown Raiders up 2-0 on the Toronto Jr. Canadiens and the Oakville Blades and Burlington Cougars tied 1-1.
Trenton will host the Dudley-Hewitt Cup, the Central Canada Jr. A championship tournament, May 2 to 6.
Cobourg is home to this year’s RBC Cup national championships, May 13 to 21.
