The St. Thomas Stars squeaked out a single point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Chatham Maroons.

After an uneventful, even fought first period, the Maroons came out hot for the second. Kyle Fisher scored early from his brother Brett Fisher and Zach Power. A few minutes later the Maroons doubled their lead when Thomas Michaud scored an unassisted goal.

The Stars Russell Oldham cut the lead in half before the end of the second. He scored a power play goal from Liam Fedak and Mathew Shuckett.

In the third period, the Stars couldn't convert on a nine minute power play. They ran into a tough Maroons penalty kill. With time dwindling, coach Darren Kelly pulled Anthony Hurtubise, and sent out the extra attacker. Oldham connected with Darren Beattie who beat the goalie with eleven seconds left in the period to send the game to overtime. Thomas McLatchie picked up the second assist.

The Stars weathered the first five minute overtime period, but Kyle Fisher scored his second of the game twenty-four second into the second overtime period from Matt Murray.

Despite the loss, the Stars still pick up one point in the standings, because the game went to overtime.

The Stars are back in action tomorrow night, Saturday, November 10th in Komoka to take on the Kings.
