Honkers Add Three More to 2014 Roster

(Rochester, Minn)– The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of three more players to temporary contracts for the 2014 season.
Jeff Campbell, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior from the University of North Dakota will return to the Honkers this summer. The right-handed pitcher and first baseman is currently 3-4 with a 4.68 ERA. He’s pitched 55.0 innings allowing 26 earned runs and has struck out 20. Campbell has also pitched two complete games on the year. At the plate, Campbell is hitting .253 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. Last summer for the Honkers, Campbell hit .218 with four home runs and 22 RBIs. He was 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA. Used exclusively as a reliever, Campbell made 10 appearances, collecting one save and 13 strikeouts.
Matt Meier is a 6-foot, 190-pound junior right-handed pitcher from Lindenwood University. The St. Charles, Mo. native is 0-3 with a 8.49 ERA. Meier is a reliever, making 14 appearances on the season so far, pitching 11.2 innings and striking out 11.
Alex Schultz is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound sophomore outfielder from the University of Nebraska Omaha. The Sioux Falls, S.D. native is currently hitting .302 with one home run and 15 RBIs. The switch-hitting Schultz is the Mavericks every day starting center fielder.
The Rochester Honkers 21st season begins on May 27th when the Waterloo Bucks prance into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch. The Honkers will play 72 games in 2014 (36 home, 36 away).
