Duluth Outfielder Picks Up Night Award

Cal Poly’s Alex Michaels had a great game for the Duluth Huskies yesterday and he has been named the Hitter of the Night in the Northwoods League. In what was an 8-7 win for the Huskies; Alex hit a double and a big grand slam. He is now hitting .319 in 47 at-bats this summer.

Austin Christensen (Duluth—Nebraska) hit a pair of doubles and drove in two for the Huskies yesterday. Michael Tinsley (Duluth—Kansas) also hit two doubles yesterday.

Wisconsin’s Jake Jefferies (Cal State Fullerton) hit his second home run of the summer for the Woodchucks. He now is hitting .359 and has driven in 10 this summer. Peter Van Gansen (Eau Claire—Cal Poly) went 3 for 4 and stole his sixth base of the summer last night.

Brett Synek (Mankato—Evansville) had two hits and scored three runs in the win. UTA’s Levi Scott hit two doubles and drove in four yesterday.  Levi now is second in the league with 30 runs batted in. Cal Poly’s Brett Barbier (Willmar) went 3 for 4 and scored a run for the Stingers.

Ryne Birk (La Crosse—Texas A&M) went 2 for 3, with a home run and two runs batted in. Ryan Kirby (La Crosse—San Diego) hit a double and a home run in the win.

Pat Porter (Ohio State—Kenosha) hit his seventh home run and drove in two in the win.  He leads the league with 38 runs batted in now. Stanford’s Alex Dunlap went 4 for 4 in the win for Kenosha. He also hit his third double and first home run of the summer.

Connor Marabell (Madison—Jacksonville) went 3 for 4 in the win. He hit a double and drove in three as well. Trace Tam Sing (Madison—Washington State) hit a his first homer of the year last night.
