City to maintain Sal Maglie operations

From the Niagara Gazette

The latest round of bids for an operator for Sal Maglie Stadium has turned up no viable options, meaning the city will likely continue to maintain the site for at least the next several months.

Mayor Paul A. Dyster said the most recent set of operation bids did not meet parameters laid out in the city’s request for proposals. Respondents of the request are currently being notified by mail. Once that phase of the process is complete, Dyster said the city fully intends to again solicit operators for the baseball stadium.

“We’re going to try and obtain an operator for later this season,” Dyster said.

Until then, the department of public works will handle maintenance duties, while the city’s legal department will serve as the booking agent for individual event operators interested in utilizing the stadium. As the deadline for facility use approaches, Dyster said that there is no shortage of interested parties. Those organizations will be backlogged by the city and used as a potential incentive as the project is sent back out to bid.
