Texas Collegiate League Recap from June 18th

The Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Woodlands Strykers 6-2 last night. Acadiana’s Kirk McMarty (S. Miss) won his second game of the season last night after allowing just a pair of runs in six innings of work.  Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) picked up two hits and scored two runs for the Cane Cutters last night.

The Brazos Valley Bombers picked up a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Texas Marshals. Brazos Valley now sports a rather nice record of 11-2 this season. Michigan State’s Dakota Mekkes pitched a scoreless 9th inning to earn his second win of the season. Brazos Valley’s Geonte Jackson (UTSA) had two hits and drove in three for the Bombers last night. Cowley County CC’s Garrett Benge hit a pair of doubles yesterday and Trent Goodrich (S. Mountain CC) scored the game-winning run for the Bombers last night.  Keaton Brewer of the Texas Marshals by way of New Orleans gave up just one run in 7.2 innings pitched.

TCL Notes from June 18th.

  • Acadiana’s Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) has been on a bit of a hot streak as of late. In his last seven games, the Cane Cutters outfielder has gone 5-for-9 and has driven in two runs.
  • After his solid start yesterday, the Marshal’s Keaton Brewer (New Orleans) has lowered his ERA to 3.50 this season.
