Four "Stat Lines" from July 5th
The Chatham Anglers (Cape Cod League) drilled the Harwich Mariners last night and Luke Persico (UCLA) was the star of the night for the Anglers. A 6-foot-3 inch sophomore outfielder, Luke hit a grand slam in what turned out to be a six-run third inning for Chatham. He finished the night by going 2-for-3 with five runs batted in and a pair of runs scored. With four hits in his last three games, Luke’s batting average has improved to .255 this summer.
Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox outfielder Stephen Wrenn went 3-for-4 in the Red Sox win over the Brewster Whitecaps yesterday. A junior from Georgia Tech, Stephen also drove in one runner in the win. Wrenn now has collected at least one hit in five of his six last games and he now is sporting a .286 batting average.
The Mankato MoonDogs picked up a much needed win yesterday and David Metzgar (CS Bakersfield) picked up three hits for Mankato. A 5-foot-7 inch Lancaster, CA native, Metzgar drove in one and scored twice in yesterday’s win over Duluth. He is now hitting .305 in 59 at-bats this season.
Mikal Hill (Winston-Salem State) went 3-for-3 in the Waterloo Bucks 10-1 win over Willmar. Hill drove in two, scored once and also hit his team-leading 9th double of the season last night. He is now hitting .238 in 130 at-bats this summer.
