SwampBats Complete Comeback to Top Blue Sox

Ethan Stringer came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning looking for redemption. An 0-4 performance at the top of the lineup, including three strikeouts, was below his standards. With a 7-5 Valley Blue Sox lead, and the bases loaded with Keene SwampBats, Stringer had a chance to make a difference for Keene. His one swing of the bat was not fair to Valley, but it certainly wasn't foul.

Stringer’s grand slam in the bottom of the eighth over the left field foul pole gave the SwampBats (7-10) a lead they would not relinquish as they beat the Blue Sox 9-8 on Wednesday night.

Keene took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning, but Valley added six runs to take a 7-4 lead. The SwampBats would answer with five runs of their own, all via home run, in the eighth. Alex Brewer began the inning with a solo shot, and Stringer’s grand slam was the finisher for the SwampBats.

Mitchell Webb added a solo shot in the second inning, and Alex Griffith hit his first two home runs of the season, picking up three RBIs.

Zach Spangler took the win for Keene, allowing only one run and one walk while striking out five over two innings. Gavin Hollowell started the game for the SwampBats, firing in five innings of two-hit ball with only one walk and one run.

Andrew Schultz took the loss for Valley.
