Offense Continues its Struggles, SwampBats Lose 4th Straight
KEENE, NH - The Mountaineers have been the best team in the NECBL since week one, and still in week six, Vermont is getting the job done. Keene fell down early and showed little to none resilience to the top dogs.
Vermont jumped out to a five to nothing lead after two quick innings. Keene threatened a couple times with first and second nobody out in the third, yet failed to score. Keene loaded the bases up in the fourth with nobody out, and failed to score.
Alex Greene (University of Virginia) pitched a great game out of the bullpen preventing the game from getting out of hand. Greene dealt three flawless innings along with three punchouts. Without Greene’s impressive effort, the score could’ve been blown out of proportion.
The SwampBats sole run came in the eighth inning on Carter Mathison’s (Indiana University) RBI single. Both Mathison and Jackson Ross (Florida Atlantic University) had two hits a piece.
The SwampBats would drop the battle 7-1 and fall 14 games back from Vermont at (10-18). Vermont improves to (24-4) and continuously proves to be the best team so far this summer. Plenty of baseball left, six games in the next five days for Keene to get back on track.
Keene hits the road to take on Sanford tomorrow at 6:30 pm, you can catch that game live on Pure Oldies 104.1 FM and/or the NECBLnetwork.com.
