The Team Ontario Astros 18U team had a very successful start to their Fall 2018 US road trip.

After a 9-hour bus ride arriving at Indianapolis-area hotel around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, the boys were up for breakfast at 9 a.m. and headed over to the University of Indianapolis for the All-Scout Wood Bat Tournament.

They played their first game at 1:30 p.m. against 5 Star Mid West - McCourt. They won that game 8-1. See game stats.

Then they played their second game of the day at 3:45, against the Indiana Astros 17U - Ison, winning that one as well, 2-0. Game pitch-by-pitch; for batting stats, click on "Players" link.

Highlights of the day: Natan Love had a 3 run homer in game 1. Colin Windle had a complete game 1 hitter in game 2.

Based on their 2 wins on Saturday, the Astros 18U won their pool and moved on to the semi-finals.

On Sunday, their semi-final game was at 8:30 a.m., against 5 Star Midwest - Gullett. Astros 18U won the semi-final 7-0! See game stats.

Highlights of the game: Bryn Biemiller and Ethan Seymour were strong on the mound. Natan Love and Jack Kensit each doubled.

The final was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Unfortunately the game play-by-play and stats were not made available for this final game of the tournament, and Pastime stopped tweeting about it after the 3rd inning.

The opposing team (Indiana Prospects - Hinds) is from one of the best programs in Indiana.

The Astros 18U started the game strong and were winning 3-0 entering the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Indiana Prospects - Hinds team then rallied and pulled ahead of our boys and ended up winning the game 8-5.

Kudos to our Canadian boys for their awesome strong showing against their US Midwest counterparts.

Next up: The Astros 18U are scheduled to play some exhibition games against colleges in Iowa:

Note: Palmer Cruickshank (Team Ontario Astros 2017) attends Ellsworth Community College, and plays baseball for the ECC Panthers.
