MONTPELIER – The Vermont Mountaineers announced today that on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 1:30 p.m., members of their organization will be at Central Vermont Medical Center’s South Entrance donating 2021 game day tickets, autographed baseballs, hats and other apparel along with 10 cases of their Vermont Mountaineers Root Beer. The donations are intended to show appreciation and support to CVMC staff for their work to keep Central Vermont safe from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brian Gallagher, Mountaineers General Manager and President of the Board, stated “As CVMC puts it in their mission statement, they are ‘Central to our community.’ They are ‘the primary healthcare provider for 66,000 people who live and work in Central Vermont, a critical source of high quality care, and, with over 1700 employees, the largest employer in Central Vermont.’ Even though we’re not playing baseball, the Mountaineers organization wants to honor and support the Essential Workers at CVMC. They play a huge role in strengthening our communities, our economy and our collective well-being.”

Gallagher also announced that members of the organization will be dropping off cases of their Vermont Mountaineers Root Beer on June 3 to the Fire and Police Departments Montpelier and Barre. “Under ‘normal’ circumstances, our police and fire department members, and our EMTs and other medical professionals, work tirelessly 24 hours a day to keep us safe. During these difficult times, the need has increased tenfold and their efforts have too. Like the employees of the hospital, we are indebted to them. Words cannot adequately express our appreciation and while the donation of our Root Beer is a very small step, we hope each and every one of these Essential Workers knows that it comes with great respect and appreciation.”
