New Ownership Group Announced

The Toronto Jr. A Canadiens would like to welcome Mr. Joel Feldberg and Mr. Jeffrey Bly to its ownership group starting in the 2016-2017 hockey season. Joel and Jeffrey will be joining longtime owner Mr. Peter Friedmann as a part of the ownership group.

 

General Manager Blake Ricci will be returning for his second season with the club and the teams new coaching staff of Jeff Angelidis, Michael Henrich, Jeff White, and holdover Rick Varone are eager to get the year underway. “Having a very strong and supportive ownership group will only improve the Jr. A Canadiens organization in the coming years. We feel as though we are in line with the elite organizations of the OJHL thanks to the direction of Peter, Joel, and Jeffrey” said Ricci. The changes have already begun with improvements being made at our home facility, the Scotiabank Pond, and the addition of numerous support staff members.

 

Lastly, thanks in large part to the efforts of Jeff Angelidis and Rick Varone, the relationship between the Jr. A Program and Jr. Canadiens Minor Program has never been stronger.

Joel Feldberg

President and Chief Executive Officer, Global Furniture Group

 

Joel Feldberg is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of The Global Furniture Group of companies.  He has been serving in this capacity since February, 2015.  Since 2006, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer.  Joel has been with The Global Furniture Group since January 2002 and has focused on re-inventing and igniting the resurgence of the company’s healthcare lineup of products which are sold under the GLOBALcare banner.

 

Prior to joining The Global Group, Joel was an associate at the law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Toronto where he focused his legal practice on the areas of corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions.  Joel is currently on the Board of Directors at The Hospital For Sick Children Foundation, The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association, The York School and The Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal.  He is an active member of the community and has previously served as a coach in the North York Knights and the Don Mills Civitan Minor Hockey Organizations.  He currently serves as Manager in the Toronto Red Wings organization.

 

Joel has a Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall and is a member of the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations.

Jeffrey Bly

Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management, Global Furniture Group

 

Jeffrey graduated from York University in 1989. He obtained his Chartered Accountants designation in 1992 and is now a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA). After working at Ernst & Young from 1989 to 1993, Jeffrey joined the Global Furniture Group in 1993. The Global Furniture Group is the largest Canadian Manufacturer of Office Furniture. Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) is a charity that Jeffrey has spent many years with. His initial involvement was as the Treasurer.  Now he is an executive board member and sits on the international board of ICRF. In 2015 Jeffrey joined the Leo Baeck School executive board. 

 

His hockey volunteering began in 2003. From 2007 to present Jeffrey has been a part 2 different team in the North York Knights organizations acting as an assistant coach and manager for both teams.
