Pats' Routledge to join teammate Matthews at SUNY Canton
TORONTO, Ont. - Toronto Patriots' forward Max Routledge has committed to play for the State University of New York at Canton in the Division III NCAA's SUNYAC Conference for next year, the club announced Monday.
Routledge, 20, has six points in 10 games for the Pats at time of writing, since being acquired from the Mississauga Chargers at the trade deadline on Jan. 10
A former Toronto affiliated player while playing midget in the Greater Toronto Hockey League with the Toronto Young Nationals in 2014-15, the Scarborough native has 117 points in 154 Ontario Junior Hockey League contests with the Newmarket Hurricanes, Chargers, and Patriots.
The centreman joins defenceman Kyler Matthews, the man who came to Toronto from Mississauga with Routledge at the deadline, as a Canton commit on the club.
Routledge has two Telus Cup (midget national championship) appearances on his resume, with one gold medal from those experiences. He also won the GTHL Midget ranks two years in a row between 2013 and 2015 with his Nats, where he played with current and former Patriots Nik Kalpouzos, Lee Lapid, Marco Bozzo, Jeremy Pullara, and Louis Di Matteo.
Routledge becomes the sixth Patriot to commit to an NCAA program this year so far.
