Toronto, ONT - The Toronto Patriots have long been a program that has prioritized moving players on to the next level before anything else.

That desire, and the success the club had this past Ontario Junior Hockey League season, continues to bear impressive fruit this summer.

Nik Kalpouzos has become the latest of nine Pats that have committed, from this past campaign, to a post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States.

An offensively gifted defender, Kalpouzos, 21, posted 67 points in 118 contests for the Patriots between 2016 and 2018. The Toronto native committed to play USports hockey for the Nipissing University Lakers for the up-coming 2018-19 season.

He will be joined the Canadian University ranks by out-going Toronto goaltender Tyler Fassl, 20, who has committed to attend and play for Wilfrid Laurier University next year.

Fassl, of Sauble Beach, Ont, was among Canada’s leaders in wins this past season with 31, and started all 18 of the Patriots’ post-season contests.

Graduated forward Adam Petric has also committed to play for the State University of New York at Canton Kangaroos in NCAA Division III next year. The Toronto-native scored 11 points in 28 games for the Pats this past season after being acquired from the Stouffville Spirit on Nov. 24, 2017.

Petric, 21, will be joining fellow Pats alumni Max Routledge and Kyler Matthews in Canton.

Other Patriots commits from this recently concluded season include Lee Lapid (Canisius DI), Anthony Petrucci (RIT DI), Colton Kalezic (Northern Michigan DI), and Dante Spagnuolo (Mercyhurst DI).
