Purcell helps the Torrington Titans down the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 7-4
Michael Purcell collected three hits, sparking the Torrington Titans (8-14) to a 7-4 victory over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (8-14) on Sunday at Fuessenich Park.
He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.A bright spot for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs in the defeat was Joe Thomas, who allowed only zero runs while striking out five.
Sean Webster racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He homered in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Jason Staub recorded his first win of the year for the Torrington Titans. He allowed two runs over five innings. Staub struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.
Corey Hart (0-2) took the loss for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out five.
