Bristol Goes Home Blue After 5-Run Comeback By Upper Valley

White River Junction, VT – The Upper Valley Nighthawks edged out the Bristol Blues 7-6 in a thrilling comeback victory Wednesday. Trailing by four runs after a five-run outburst by the Blues in the fifth inning, the Nighthawks clawed their way back to secure a hard-fought win in front of an energized home crowd.

The Nighthawks struck first with two runs in the second inning. The Blues had a huge rally in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Bristol’s Michael Zarrillo delivered the biggest blow with a two-run homer, his first of the season. The Nighthawks responded immediately with a four-run comeback in the fifth inning to tie the game at 6-6. DJ Pacheco hit a sacrifice fly, Worcester singled in a run, and Frei added a two-RBI double. The Nighthawks scored their go-ahead run in the sixth inning. After a Jacob Keys triple, DJ Pacheco brought him home with a sac fly, putting Upper Valley ahead 7-6.

Big Hitters:

Jacob Keys: 2-for-4 with a triple, playing a key role in the Nighthawks’ comeback. 

DJ Pacheco: 1-for-2 with a double, a sacrifice fly, and two RBIs, continuing his hot start to the season with a .400 average.

Marcus Danchision started for the Nighthawks, allowing one run over four innings with three walks and one strikeout. Jacob Price struggled in relief, giving up five runs (two earned) in just over an inning. Cal Culpepper put in the work Wednesday, pitching a handful of scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn his first win of the season. And finally, Halton Harty came in to close out the game in a three-up-three-down 9th inning with two strikeouts, earning his first save.
