D2 SPARTANS LOOK TO DEFEND THE BAY ON GASPARILLA WEEKEND
TAMPA, Fla. - The no. 1 University of Tampa Spartans will battle with the no. 13 University of Florida Gators in two highly anticipated top 20 games on Gasparilla weekend.
The Spartans will be sporting a new look this weekend in the form of special edition Gasparilla themed uniforms, the team announced today. Tampa comes into the weekend riding a 13-game winning streak that dates back to October 16th, 2021. Sophomore's Jack Manware and Tyler Kelly each recorded their own hat trick this past weekend in separate games against Hofstra.
The no. 11 Gators are 8-5-0 this season and recently won the Thrasher Cup with wins over University of Georgia in a shootout and Florida State University. Florida's leading scorer, John Hunt has recorded 8 goals and 11 assists in 9 games played this season. This includes 4 points in his last two games in the Thrasher Cup.
On Friday night, University of Tampa Student Government will provide fan busses to transport students to and from Clearwater Ice Arena. The busses will depart from the Vaughn Center at 9:15pm and will run on a first come first serve basis. The busses will return back to campus immediately following the completion of the game.
During the game there will be raffle tickets available for purchase to win a UT Hockey Jersey!!
