D2 SPARTANS GO UNDEFEATED AT HOME

DAYTONA, Florida. - The Tampa Spartans Men’s Hockey Team scored 4 goals in this thrilling victory over Embry Riddle.

 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

 

Final: Embry Riddle 3, Tampa 4

Records: Tampa (24-1-1), EMBRY RIDDLE (14-8-1)

Location: Daytona Ice Arena | Daytona, FL

 

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1:

1st Period

  •  -Embry Riddle started their Senior Night off on the right note as they scored the first goal of the game to give them the lead with six minutes left in the first
  •  -Tampa responded in short time as Grant Parrish scored a powerplay goal with a nice deflection on a pass from Josey Davis
  •  -With less than a minute left and on another powerplay Spartans’ Josey Davis scored off a shot from the point to give Tampa their first lead of the game.

2nd Period

  •  -Tampa was not the only team to score on that powerplay, as Embry Riddle got a shorthanded goal to tie the game

3rd Period

  •  -The Spartans, on their 4th powerplay chance of the game, scored another goal on a powerful shot from the point by Christian Kukas
  •  -Tampa expanded their lead with a rebound goal from Frank Catalina giving them a two-goal lead with ten minutes left in the game
  •  -With time running out and the goalie pulled, Embry Riddle scored one to make it a one goal game.
  •  -Embry Riddle pulled their goalie again, but the Spartans’ defense was too strong as the game ended 4-3 Tampa.

 

GAME 2: UT vs. EMBRY RIDDLE

TAMPA, Florida. – The University of Tampa’s Men’s Hockey Team finished their regular season with 25 wins, the last of which came against Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

 

Final: EMBRY RIDDLE 2, Tampa 3

Records: Tampa (25-1-1), EMBRY RIDDLE (14-8-1)

Location: Clearwater Ice Arena | Clearwater, FL

HOW IT HAPPENED:

 

1st Period

  •  -Embry Riddle came into this game looking for revenge for the night before, as they scored the first goal of the game in the first minute
  •  -This lead lasted a whole minute before Tampa’s Angelo Picariello sniped from the point for his first goal of the year and the last of the period.

2nd Period

  •  -Embry Riddle fought for the lead the entire second period until they finally were rewarded for their efforts with a goal. This was the only goal this period

3rd Period

  •  -The Spartans were not going to let Embry Riddle win another period, as they came out angry. This led to a goal early by Christian Kukas to tie the game
  •  -Tampa used their newfound momentum to score another goal two minutes later on a shot from Ryan Murray, which gave the Spartans their first lead of the game.
  •  -As time was expiring, UT was able to hang on to their lead as they faced the 6-man attack from Embry Riddle, earning themselves the win.
