Weekend Preview: UVM Heads South to RI
Overview
After a week-and-a-half of rest and recovery, the University of Vermont (6-1-1-1) will travel south to Rhode Island for games against Roger Williams University (8-1-0) and Bryant University (1-3-0-2). The Catamounts will look to get back into the win column after losing to and tying Norwich University in their previous games. There will be increased pressure on UVM to perform as the first round of ACHA Div. II rankings will be posted on Wednesday, Nov. 7th. UVM has not been ranked in the top ten since December of 2016 and will look to change that with two victories this weekend.
RWU Preview
On Saturday, Nov. 3rd, UVM will depart for a matinee against the RWU Hawks. Roger Williams has been a dominant team in NECHA over the past couple seasons and looks to be equally-strong in 2018-19. The Hawks maintain a 8-1-0 record with their last three victories coming over Connecticut College (2-1 OTW), Merrimack College (4-2 W), and Eastern Connecticut State University (4-1 W). In net, RWU has received excellent goaltending from Ryan Shea (.961 S%) and Marc Frederick (.935 S%).
Bryant Preview
After a night of rest, the Catamounts will return to action against the Bryant Bulldogs on Sunday, Nov. 4th. Bryant (1-3-0-2) has dealt with a difficult slate of games to start the regular season, but registered their first win in decisive fashion over Merrimack (5-2 W) on Sunday, Oct. 28th. The Bulldogs will return to action with a rematch against the Warriors on Friday before hosting UVM on Sunday.
