UVM Splits Weekend Against Providence
Burlington, VT- This past weekend, the University of Vermont ACHA men's hockey team continued its 2019-20 season against the Providence College Friars. UVM (1-1-2) split the weekend against PC (1-1-0), winning 5-4 on Saturday before suffering an 8-1 trouncing on Sunday. On Saturday, UVM was led by senior forward Harrison Naylor (Toronto, ONT), who tallied two goals and two assists. The rest of the scoring was carried out by several of the Catamounts' freshmen; Nick Levine (Mansfield, MA), Tyler Bodette (Addison, VT), and Kyle Hart (Narragansett, RI) each registered their first collegiate goals in the win. Dana Marsh (Derby, VT) turned aside 42/46 Friar SOG.
On Sunday, UVM played a strong first period, with Beck Heil (Mars, PA) burying a rebound to take a 1-1 tie into intermission. From there, the wheels fell off for UVM. Struggling in every facet of the game, UVM fell to an opportunistic and vengeful Providence squad by an 8-1 margin. Eric Roy (Grand Isle, VT) made his first appearance of the season in net for UVM, denying 11 of 12 PC shots in relief of Marsh.
Coming off a difficult loss on home ice, the Catamounts are looking to get things back on track on the road this weekend. UVM will be hosted by Keene State College (0-0-0) and the University of Albany (0-1-0), each playing their home openers this season. Keene State is untested in 2019-20, while UAlbany fell 6-2 to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in their season opener this past weekend.
