Burlington, VT- The 2019-20 season has been an up-and-down one thus far for the University of Vermont ACHA men's hockey team. Coming off three consecutive weekends which saw the Catamounts split their two games, UVM now faces a daunting challenge in the UMass Amherst Minutemen this coming Saturday.

Two weekends ago, Vermont traveled south to take on division rival Keene State and non-league foe UAlbany. On Friday evening, the Catamounts were bested 4-0 in Keene's home opener. Eric Roy (Grand Isle, VT) provided excellent goaltending throughout the game. On Saturday, UVM traveled to Albany for a bout against the Great Danes. This time, UVM spoiled their opponent's home opener, trouncing UAlbany by a score of 7-1. The Cats received scoring from Beck Heil (Mars, PA) with two tallies, Spencer Schell (Scarsdale, NY), Nick Levine (Mansfield, MA), Nathan Theriault (Essex, VT), Trevor Davis (Kenmore, NY), and Jake Hall (Saint Albans, VT). Roy earned his first victory of the season in net.

This past weekend, UVM returned home for tilts against Bryant University and Roger Williams University. On Saturday, UVM took down the Bryant Bulldogs 4-1. Goals came off the sticks of Joey Konvit (Allendale, NJ), Cam Giroux (Chazy, NY), Tyler Bodette (Addison, VT), and Trevor Davis. Monty Cunningham (Pittsford, NY) turned aside 34/35 SOG in the win. On Saturday, UVM hosted RWU and fell by a score of 6-2. Jake Hall buried both Catamount goals.

Looking ahead, UVM now faces division opponents for three consecutive games. This Saturday at 8:15 PM, the Catamounts (3-3-2) host UMass Amherst (4-0-0), one of the top ACHA D2 teams in the United States. The following weekend, UVM plays host to the University of Connecticut Huskies (0-2-0) for two additional divisional matchups.
