Fall 2019 Semester Recap
Burlington, VT- The University of Vermont ACHA men's hockey team is seeking improvement after a 5-10-2 start to the 2019-20 campaign. After beginning the season 1-0-2 with a victory over Providence College and a pair of ties against UMass Lowell, the Catamounts struggled to maintain consistency and enter the spring semester on a 5-game losing streak. Forwards Harrison Naylor (Toronto, ONT) and Joey Konvit (Allendale, NJ) have set the scoring pace for the team, leading the way with 18 and 15 points, respectively. With 89 career points, 41 career goals, and 48 career assists, Naylor has his eyes set on some impressive personal milestones. He is 11 points away from 100, 7 goals away from the UVM record, 9 goals away from 50, and 2 assists away from 50.
In terms of notable roster changes, goaltender Andrew Ehler's (Hingham, MA) roster spot will be taken by senior defenseman Kyle Vock (South Burlington, VT). Ehler has finished his undergraduate coursework and is no longer eligible to be rostered on an ACHA team, while Vock is returning from a semester abroad in Vienna, Austria.
UVM will kick off the spring semester with road games at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Sat 1/18) and Westfield State University (Sun 1/19). With a 10-2-1 record, the RPI Engineers are ranked #6 in the D2 Northeast Region. At 14-1-0 overall, the Westfield State Owls are ranked #7. Vermont is unranked entering the last 7 games of the season.
