HOLYOKE – Valley Blue Sox and West Virginia University pitcher Endy Morales can make the NECBL All-Star Team if he wins this week's fan vote, and he needs some help from you, the fans. Fan voting ends tomorrow, and you can vote on the NECBL website here.
Morales, who was born and raised in Holyoke, has a 1.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched for the Blue Sox this summer. He has struck out 12 batters and allowed only nine hits.
"Playing for the Blue Sox was always a dream," Morales said. "When the team gave me the call about making that dream come true, I was ecstatic."
The rising sophomore Morales has the opportunity to join five of his Blue Sox teammates on the Northern Division team at this Sunday's All-Star Game at Cardines Field in Newport, R.I. Scouts from numerous Major League Baseball organizations will be in attendance at the All-Star Game.
"Being able to represent the organization, my family, my friends, and most importantly my hometown, is a blessing," Morales continued. "Competing at the All-Star Game would be a huge step in my career!"
Morales played baseball, basketball, and football for Holyoke High School and Suffield Academy.
He earned ESPN Boston MIAA All-State Honors and All-Western Massachusetts Division I First Team honors in 2013 while playing baseball for Holyoke High.
At Suffield Academy in 2014, he was named a Perfect Game Underclass High Honorable Mention All-American and All-Western New England Prep Baseball League Second Team.
After completing his first year with the West Virginia University baseball team, Morales continues to train and improve while playing summer baseball for his hometown team, the Valley Blue Sox.
Morales made his first start Tuesday, and earned the win as Valley defeated the New Bedford Bay Sox 5-1. Morales allowed just three hits and one run over five innings.
