Sox fall in close 5-3 contest to Ocean State
Holyoke, MA – The Valley Blue Sox’s three-game win streak came to and end Monday night when they were defeated by the Ocean State Waves 5-3.
The Waves currently possess the top record in the NECBL with the record of 20-5, while the Blue Sox dropped to 15-9 - just .5 game back from first place in the Northern Division.
While the Sox were able to collect nine hits, Ocean State managed to strike out 15 Blue Sox batters with Hunter Fain as the only Blue Sox player to not get punched out. Niko Hulsizer (Morehead St.) hit his fourth home run of the season to deep center to start the Sox scoring off. He has homered in 3 of his last 4 games.
The Blue Sox will be in action tomorrow when they head up to Montpellier to take on the Vermont Mountaineers.
On Wednesday, they return home to start a 2-game home stand, before heading back on the road.
Wally the Green Monster will be joining the Blue Sox on Wednesday courtesy of Holyoke Medical Center. In addition, Red Sox Hall of Famer Bill "Spaceman" Lee will be joining the Blue Sox for the day to mingle with fans, sign autographs and who knows what else. gates open at 5:30pm and first pitch will be 6:35pm.Tickets are $7 fo adults and $5 for kids and seniors.
